The JCNAACP Community Forums 2012 Committee will host "A Johnson County NAACP 2012 Freedom Fund Initiative, "Miss Represented: Gender, Race, Religion, and Politics."

Fact: In Kansas City; African-Americans hold less than 5% of the state, Hispanics account for 3% of the state legislature and there are no Asian Americans serving as state legislators.

Join us for an honest and educated discussion as we begin race & religion in politics. This is how we all begin to have a say in our government.

JOHNSON COUNTY NAACP 2012 GUMBO FEST

JCNAACP invites the community to participate in their 10th Annual Creole Gumbo/Jambalaya Fest on Saturday, January 28, 2012, 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm. This year's fest will be held at the Irene B. French Merriam Community Center. (I-35 South to Johnson Drive Exit - West 2 Blocks then Right on Merriam Dr.) 5701 Merriam Dr., Merriam, KS 66203 (913-322-5550). The following will be served:
Red Beans & Rice, Chicken & Sausage Gumbo, or Seafood Gumbo (Choice of two).
The side dishes are Jambalaya, and Mixed Greens; Cornbread Muffins; Soda, Water and Desserts will be served.

We Guarantee that you will have an enjoyable time. Please join us in this festive atmosphere and bring your entire family. Children are welcome.

Adults: $15, and $20 at the Door
